Toughest one day race in Australia
On Saturday Liz competed in the Grafton to Inverell bike race. This is known as the toughest one day race held in Australia, covering 228km and over 3500m of elevation/climbing.
Finishing in just under 7.5 hours, Liz managed to get third on the podium in her first attempt. Managing nutrition and muscle fatigue are the greatest challenges to contend with on the bike.
The past few years of regular Pilates has allowed Liz to train her body and mind to endure events such as these.
“Training the muscles around the shoulders, hips, back and knees are vital to continued athletic performance and success. It is important to find the balance between training on the bike and off it in preparation for such events.”
